In this session, Ronaldo Schemidt of Agence France-Presse, the winner of the World Press Photo of the Year, and Juan Barreto of Agence France-Presse, winner in Spot News Stories, discuss how they made their photographs of the crisis in Venezuela.

Photographers Maheder Haileselassie (Centre for Photography Ethiopia) and Angela Jimu (Zimbabwean Association of Female Photographers) present their work and their inspiring journeys towards building local capacity and offering visual journalism education in their respective countries.

Five-time World Press Photo contest award winner, Ami Vitale presents 'Finding Stories that Connect Us'. She speaks about her work covering the conflict in Kashmir, as well as her latest World Press Photo award-winning series, 'Pandas Gone Wild' and 2018 winning story, 'Warriors Who Once Feared Elephants Now Protect Them'.

Heba Khamis (World Press Photo Contest 2018, Contemporary Issues stories, 1st prize) presented her award-winning work, 'Banned Beauty', a series which looks at the traditional practice in Cameroon of breast ironing which is carried out by families in the belief that it will delay maturity and help prevent sexual violence against girls.
